Grangers Instructions: How to Protect Burton Outerwear

Burton is proud to offer several different Grangers products, all of which are designed to improve the regular performance of your outerwear while prolonging its useful life at the same time.

Grangers: The Science of Protection

Since 1937, Grangers has been dedicated to protecting outdoor enthusiasts against the elements. In fact, Grangers developed the world's first waterproofing solution in 1947, and its products were employed on gear used in the first successful summit of Mount Everest. Based in Derbyshire, United Kingdom, Grangers works closely with explorers and adventurers to develop eco-friendly outerwear protection. To that end, all Grangers products are:

  • PFC-free
  • Bluesign® accredited
  • Responsible Down Standard (RDS) certified
  • Produced in a solar-assisted facility

Grangers Instructions

If you have a jacket at home that is not as waterproof as it once was, smells like the inside of a middle school locker room, or hasn't been washed since 1993, it may be time to take home some Grangers. There are several different options, but the instructions are all fairly straightforward.

Grangers Performance Wash Instructions

Grangers Performance Wash is unlike your regular laundry detergent, which can seriously harm the performance of technical clothing. Grangers Performance Wash does not leave any chemical residues that may harm breathability and gently removes dirt while eliminating odors—all while maintaining any water-repellent treatments.

Instructions:

  1. Place the garment(s) in the washing machine (make sure to close zips and Velcro flaps).
  2. Add 1 cap of Performance Wash to the washing machine's detergent drawer (1 cap will wash one jacket or two base layers).
  3. Wash at 86° F/30° C (this will be the "warm" setting on most washing machines) on a full wash cycle (that is at least 30 minutes in length).
  4. Dry the garment(s) per the instructions on the garment tags. To restore water resistance, apply Performance Repel immediately after washing.

Grangers Performance Repel Instructions

Grangers Clothing Repel protects gear against the elements by restoring its water-repellent finish. It's simple to use, harmless to the environment, and delivers consistent results every time.

Instructions:

  1. Place the garment on a clothes hanger.
  2. Hold the Performance Repel bottle 4-6"/10-15cm from the garment and spray it thoroughly, working from top to bottom (wipe away any large droplets using a clean cloth).
  3. Allow the garment to dry completely before wearing.
  4. Reapply as necessary.

Grangers 2 in 1 Wash and Repel Instructions

Grangers 2 in 1 Wash and Repel combines the cleaning action of Performance Wash with the water repellency of Performance Repel to provide the perfect outdoor clothing maintenance solution.

Instructions:

  1. Place the garment(s) in the washing machine (make sure to close zips and Velcro flaps).
  2. Add 1 cap of 2 in 1 Wash and Repel to the washing machine's detergent drawer (1 cap will wash one jacket or two base layers).
  3. Wash at 86° F/30° C (this will be the "warm" setting on most washing machines) on a full wash cycle (that is at least 30 minutes in length).
  4. Tumble dry or iron to activate the waterproofing.

Grangers Active Wash Instructions

Grangers Active Wash is a high-performance wash-in cleaner designed to remove dirt, sweat, and other unwanted odors from activewear. Formulated to target the bacteria that cause odors, Active Wash eliminates odors instead of simply trying to mask them.

Instructions:

  1. Shake the bottle before use.
  2. Add 1 cap of Active Wash to the washing machine's detergent drawer.
  3. Wash at 86° F/30° C (this will be the "warm" setting on most washing machines) on a full wash cycle (that is at least 30 minutes in length).
  4. Hang dry naturally.

Grangers Odor Eliminator Instructions

Grangers Odor Eliminator is a spray-on odor neutralizer suitable for footwear, clothing, and other accessories (helmet, gloves, hats). The quick and easy spray-on application makes it perfect for unwashable items.

Instructions:

  1. Hold the Odor Eliminator bottle 4-6"/10-15cm from the item and completely apply a slight mist, working from end to end or top to bottom (for shoes and snowboard boots, spray the liners/insoles separately).
  2. Allow the item to dry completely before wearing.

Note: For shoes and snowboard boots, remove the liners/insoles before application.

Grangers Down Care Kit Instructions

Grangers Down Care Kit has been formulated specifically to restore the natural loft of natural down and synthetic down while cleaning and improving water repellency at the same time. The kit comes with three reusable dryer balls that prevent clumping while drying.

Instructions:

  1. Place the garment(s) in the washing machine (make sure to close zips and Velcro flaps).
  2. Add 1 cap of Down Wash to the washing machine's detergent drawer (1 cap will wash one large item or two smaller items). Note: Use ½ cap of Down Wash when handwashing items.
  3. Wash at 86° F/30° C (this will be the "warm" setting on most washing machines) on a full wash cycle (that is at least 30 minutes in length).
  4. Remove the garment(s) from the wash and redistribute the down by hand.
  5. Place the garment(s) in the clothes dryer and add in the reusable dryer balls. Tumble dry on low/medium heat and check every 15 minutes to ensure that there is no clumping.
  6. The garment(s) is ready to wear once completely dry.
