Every single snowboard we build is handmade.
It's one of the biggest misconceptions we hear from first-time visitors at our Prototype Facility here in Burlington, Vermont. No, there isn't one magical machine that pops out fully built snowboards. It's actually a series of custom-built machines and techniques that help us with each step in the process. In short, building a board is an art.
In addition to building boards, the 10,000 square-foot facility houses the best of our high-end machinery, including 3D printers, a softgoods lab, photo studio and more. It's where we experiment with small-batch, special edition boards, such as our Family Tree line, and develop new technologies, such as Step On.
Since we know not everyone can make it to Vermont for a tour, we went a little wild with a 3D camera to try to convey what it's like at Craig's. Click and drag left and right to look around, navigate using the portals at the bottom, and click the icons to learn more. Be on the lookout for some misty surprises we left for you to find.
Can't you just smell the epoxy from here? If you want to see the real thing for yourself, we offer year-round tours where you can see each of the steps in detail, ask questions, and appreciate the art that goes into each of our boards. Click the button below to sign up for a real tour of Craig's.
