How to Replace Burton Step On Binding Gas Pedals
Based on rider feedback, Burton has created replacement gas pedals for select Burton Step On bindings to improve the fit and performance of the system. Replacement gas pedals are applicable to Burton Step On binding systems for men, women, and kids only when there is a defect with the original gas pedals. Alternate gas pedals are applicable to Burton Step On binding systems for kids.
Reasons to Replace Burton Step On Binding Gas Pedals
Riders of the kids' Burton Step On system who notice too much movement (or “play”) between the boot and binding at the toe hook/toe cleat interface will benefit from the replacement gas pedal. The updated gas pedals are manufactured with a thicker EVA foam and swapping out the original gas pedals with the alternate gas pedals will eliminate unwanted movement and increase performance.
Riders of the men's or women's Burton Step On system only need to replace the original gas pedals if there is a defect that impacts fit.

Burton Step On Binding Gas Pedal Replacement
Replacing Step On gas pedals is a fairly straightforward project that can be tackled at home in about 20 minutes. Please note that the following instructions apply to select models and sizes of men’s Step On bindings, women’s Step On bindings, and kids’ Step On bindings.
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Unmount and remove both Step On bindings from your snowboard. Proceed with one binding and then repeat these steps for the second binding.

Step 2: Unsnap the rear tab that connects the gas pedal to heelside of the baseplate. This will allow the heelside of the EVA foam footbed to detach and hinge upwards.

Pro tip: If the tabs are difficult to unsnap, use a flathead screwdriver to pop them loose.
Step 3: Once the footbed is unsnapped, slide it as far forward as possible. Check the bottom of the binding to ensure that the posts in the two slot channels are as far back in channels as possible.

Step 4: With the binding turned over (bottom side up), remove the gas pedal frame. Using your thumbs on the heelside edge of the plastic lip, push up and forward until the plastic part unsnaps from the baseplate.

Step 5: Once the gas pedal is unsnapped at the heel and the toe, separate the gas pedal frame from the gas pedal and the EVA footbed from the binding.

Step 6: Grab the replacement gas pedal and place it on top of the baseplate. Position both parts so that the slots to attach the gas pedal frame are visible on both sides of the baseplate bridge.

Pro tip: Make sure that the most forward toeside slots are on the toeside of the baseplate toe bridge, and that the rear slots are on the heelside of the baseplate toe bridge.
Step 7: Attach the Step On binding gas pedal frame to the underside of the baseplate and gas pedal using the slots on the underside of the gas pedal and the tabs on the top side of the gas pedal frame. Firmly press the tabs into the slots, making sure that all of the tabs are connected.

Step 8: Adjust the gas pedal to fit your boot by sliding it forward or backward in the binding.

Pro tip: Reference the sizes marked on the top side of the baseplate where the footbed snaps attach.
Step 9: Mount the bindings on your board, snap the EVA footbed down, and you’re ready to go.
