Burton Pass Along: Giving Gear A Second Chance
November 1, 2022 Update: We’re testing a new way of business – one that keeps gear in use and helps new people access our brand. By extending the life of our products through take back and resale (coming soon), we’re keeping our gear away from the landfill and out in nature.
Every second, the equivalent of one garbage truck of clothing goes to the landfill...
The real kicker of it all is, most of these items could have been recycled, reused, or repurposed instead of thrown in the trash.
With Burton Pass Along, we're trying to change that.
Pass Along is a program designed to keep clothing and gear in-use and out of the landfill for as long as possible. It's simple: You bring us your Burton gear and we'll give you a credit toward new purchases.
Maybe you've rocked the same jacket for a few seasons and you're just ready for a change. Maybe your aunt bought you a well-intentioned gift and it's been sitting in your closet since then. There are all kinds of reasons why you might want to part with your gear, and if we can help them get back in circulation, that's a win for the planet.
How it Works
We accept new and gently used Burton and Analog snowboards and outerwear (snow jackets, snow pants, snow bibs and snow one-pieces) that function properly and are in very good, clean, reusable condition. We accept snowboards from 2013 onward and outerwear from 2018 onward. In exchange, we give you a credit to be used toward purchases at Burton Flagship retail stores and on Burton.com. Products traded in will be prepared and listed for future resale (coming soon).
- Bring your new or used Burton and Analog snowboard or outerwear to a U.S. Burton flagship store. Find a location here. Eligibility requirements apply, determine if your product is eligible here.
- For each eligible product traded in, you will receive credit that can be used toward purchases of new products in Burton Flagship stores and at burton.com. You may also choose to donate the full gift card value to The Chill Foundation, which helps inspire youth to overcome challenges through boardsports.
- Your used products will then get cleaned or tuned and distributed for future resale, extending their lifetime and lowering their environmental impact. Learn more about our product circularity efforts here.
