July 2020 Update: We’re currently pausing the Burton Pass Along program due to COVID-19 while we consider how to safely collect used gear. Until then, hang tight and we’ll share more information once we’re ready to re-launch.
Every second, the equivalent of one garbage truck of clothing goes to the landfill...
The real kicker of it all is, most of these items could have been recycled, reused, or repurposed instead of thrown in the trash.
With Burton Pass Along, we're trying to change that.
Pass Along is a new program designed to keep clothing and gear in-use and out of the landfill for as long as possible. It's simple: You bring us your Burton gear and we'll give you a credit toward new purchases.
Maybe you've rocked the same jacket for a few seasons and you're just ready for a change. Maybe your aunt bought you a well-intentioned gift and it's been sitting in your closet since then. There are all kinds of reasons why you might want to part with your gear, and if we can help them get back in circulation, that's a win for the planet.
Here’s how it works:
- Bring your new or used Burton and Analog outerwear, bags, and boards in good condition to a U.S. Burton flagship or outlet store. Find a location here. (Note: U.S. stores only.)
- Trade them in for credit toward purchases of new products in Burton stores and at Burton.com. (You could also double down and donate the credit to The Chill Foundation, which helps inspire underserved youth to overcome challenges through boardsports.)
- Pass Along products then get cleaned and distributed for reuse, extending their lifetime and lowering your environmental footprint.
Ready to Pass Along? Check out the full program details and hit up our Burton Guides if you have any questions. While we hope to make Pass Along available to all Burton customers in the future, for now it is available only in the US.
All our products are built to last, and Pass Along will help ensure they live their fullest life. Keep an eye out for future used gear sales. Who knows, maybe you’ll end up riding something straight out of Jake’s or Donna’s quiver…
