Get to Know Ylfa
Snowboarding has two spirits at its core: one defined by logic, and the other by raw DIY creative energy. Ylfa embodies the latter. She built her way to professional snowboarding through an unapologetic streak of self-motivated street snowboarding, leaning on her friends and utilizing all of her (seemingly boundless) creative energy along the way.
Catch Yfla in Paved, a new film from Burton and Red Bull Media House.

What does Ylfa Runarsdottir ride?
Snowboarding in the streets, sidehills, terrain parks, basically anywhere there’s snow and a shovel, Ylfa is on a quest to keep inspiration and camaraderie burning bright in snowboarding’s collective consciousness. The pursuit has brought her around the glove, driving around in a van with her friends looking at everyday objects like handrails, walls, rocks, benches, and roofs as opportunities. She especially loves navigating the world through color, and is drawn to spots that provide opportunities to evoke different moods with different hues. With riders like Ylfa on the team, guiding our product development and direction as a brand, we’ll never run short of ideas and opportunities to bring Jake’s core ethos to life: Have as much fun as possible.
Ylfa rides the Blossom snowboard as her daily driver — a true twin that supports her creative freestyle mentality and lets her ride with no limitations. The lightweight 700G core and Carbon I-Beam™ deliver pop and response without extra weight. She especially loves the dual-graphic options, including artwork by teammate Niels Schack. When it’s time to step into powder or freeride terrain, she’ll reach for the Hometown Hero, a directional board with a slightly tapered shape that gives her float without limiting her freestyle flow. For bindings, she runs the Lexa X EST® across all terrain. Paired with The Channel® mounting system, her setup offers unmatched adjustability, enhanced board feel, and the control she needs to stomp big landings. To round out her kit, she rides the Limelight BOA® boots — a comfy medium-flex option with a Dual-Zone BOA® system for quick adjustments and a dialed-in fit.
