JAKE'S STORY
GET TO
KNOW JAKE
Jake's dream, perseverance, and generosity were a gift to the world. Not only did he put his blood, sweat, tears, and joy into snowboarding, but also into building a dedicated community that will carry it forward. Most winters, he clocked at least 100 days on snow.
PARTICIPATING RESORTS
PARTICIPATING RESORTS
If you can't celebrate at a resort - that's ok! Go surf. Go Skate. Do cartwheels in your front yard if that's your thing. However you move today, get outside and have fun with it. That's what Jake was all about.
Jake Burton Carpenter was deeply committed to giving back to the snowboarding community he helped create. In 1995, Jake and Donna Carpenter founded Chill Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to introducing young people to boardsports who wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity. Since 1995, Chill has reached more than 30,000 youth across 20 locations in 9 countries, using snowboarding, skateboarding, surfing, and paddleboarding to build confidence, get youth outside, and create community.
Consider carrying on Jake’s legacy with a gift to Chill. Your donation will directly support programs that provide life-changing experiences for the next generation.
"At Burton, we redefine traditions, turning the expected on its head. Our iconic use of the middle finger as a symbol reflects our resilience and pride as winter sports rebels. When Jake faced a life-threatening illness, the entire company gathered spontaneously for a group photo, expressing love and solidarity. The resulting 'We Fucking Love You Jake' image, displayed prominently in Jake's hospital room, became a source of inspiration for his recovery. This unconventional gesture encapsulates the love, mutual respect, and strength of community that define Burton Snowboards."
