Checking in with Oregon’s Tactics Boardshop

A good shop’s impact on its local community goes way beyond providing quality gear and personal service. We’re putting a spotlight on shops across North America to find out how they do it, which brings us to Tactics Boardshop and their two locations in Eugene and Bend, Oregon.

In their own words, Tactics was conceived on a powder day at Mt. Bachelor, Oregon in 1998, and then formally founded in 1999. They’re rider-owned and rider-staffed, and have grown to be one of the world’s largest specialty retailers for skateboarding and snowboarding.

Lauded for all aspects of their operations, Tactics has mastered the transition into the internet era by using social media and their website to mirror the experience that they deliver in-store. With a bigger presence, they’re expanding upon their mission to feed the love for snowboarding. One quick scroll through their blog is all it takes to immerse yourself in all things Tactics, with board reviews, industry news, and edits featuring their team riders.

Located in the Pacific Northwest, Tactics has a massive community to serve, and a shop team that is built around the region’s deep pool of talent. They put a ton of effort into spreading excitement throughout the community through social media contests, movie premiers, and by sharing stories, photos and videos from their local community.
