Comments about Red Wrist Guards - Adult:

After 24 years of riding I finally break something and it is the statistically highest injury to snowboarders, a broken wrist. No worries however as it was March 2012 and a drought winter for Utah ski resorts. Ice, dirt, rocks, tree stumps, etc. Conditions that we are not used to by any means. Long story short, exited lift (yes, I was existing the lift, when your done laughing, keep reading), fell at awkward angle on lumpy ice, broke wrist. Surgery to place hardware, problem with hardware (no fault of MD, hardware irritated tendons), hardware removal and a promise to my doctor that I'd wear wrist guards the winter of 2012-'13.

Now understand living in Utah I never needed such things as the snow is always so soft and forgiving and the idea of wearing them didn't sit well with me. Bulky, restrictive, possibly a bit of a wuss factor, were a few more reasons I didn't want to wear them. On the promise to my MD I shopped around and hard. I tried all of them and RED was the best of all worlds. Low profile enough that I didn't need to buy a size larger glove. They were very lightweight and breathable. Also, they have a slight flex to them to keep them from being uncompromisingly rigid and restrictive. This is not a bad thing as it allows a more nature feel while still supplying enough protection to your wrist. I mainly ride all mountain but I could see them being useful no matter what your into.

I got used to riding with them pretty quick once I broke in my gloves a little. There is a bit of a learning curve to getting your gloves on and off in an efficient manner and just plain wearing them. My girlfriend bought another brand but they are nothing compared to RED's Wrist Guards. I'm planning on exchanging her's for RED's real soon.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
