Can I return used snowboard gear or other used items?

Burton does not accept returns on used snowboard gear or other used items.

This policy of not accepting returns on used gear ensures the safety of you and other riders who count on Burton to provide a consistent and reliable experience.

Burton's definition of "used" gear: Any item that has had its tags removed and/or shows signs of use for its intended purpose in the wild is considered used.

If your item is new and in unused condition, it may be eligible for return. Please review the Burton Return Policy for more information on initiating a return.

Used Gear

Some examples of items that would be considered used and not eligible for return or exchange include:

  • Riding a snowboard and then deciding you don't like it
  • Wearing a t-shirt for a day and then deciding you don't like the color or fit
  • Going on vacation with Burton luggage and then deciding it is not big enough

Important Note: Mounting bindings on a snowboard will typically void it for a return. Even if the board is not actually ridden at all, simply mounting bindings can scuff the topsheet and leave it in "used" condition.

Reasons Why You Can't Return Used Snowboard Gear

Sustainability is a core component of Burton's effort to minimize the environmental impact of snowboarding and we are dedicated to finding forever homes for our products. Returned items are inspected and returned to the market when possible, giving them another chance to end up on the mountain. And because returned items can end up in another rider's possession, we must be able to guarantee quality and performance.

How to Evaluate Your New Gear

As soon as you receive your order, inspect and try on all items. If you determine that something does not fit, you don't like it, or you simply don't need it anymore, please initiate a return immediately. Some additional tips include are outlined below.

  • Try on shoes and boots indoors to avoid any damage that may void a return
  • Lay your board on the floor and place your bindings on it (without actually mounting them) to get an idea of sizing
  • Triple XL may have been the fad in 2001, but clothing should fit comfortably, and you are free to return an item for a smaller size if the tags are still on and it has not been worn

Essentially, you can do what you would normally do in a store and still be able to return the item.
