Making the Best Snowboards Means Hiring the Best People

Becoming one of the biggest names in snowboarding wasn’t just good luck. Burton has thrived thanks to incredible leadership, and dedicated teams of people who truly love what they do. If you've never been to our corporate headquarters, you might be surprised by how many people we’ve got working behind the scenes, making it all happen. Here's a brief run-down of departments at Burton Snowboards global headquarters.
People & Culture
Human Resources, but for the modern age. Burton is a diverse group of individuals who bring an endlessly varied spectrum of life experiences to the table. And People & Culture are here to support them on their journey. P&C does much more than just provide Burton employees with what they need, they help foster the development of an inclusive, supportive, and fun workplace culture that lets people thrive. P&C is largely responsible for the big smiles you’ll see on everyone’s faces at HQ, and when needed, they also keep us honest, facilitating the learning and work that must be done to create an equitable, fair, and forward-thinking workplace.
Marketing
The marketing team are wordsmiths, strategists, and critical thinkers, working behind the scenes to effectively communicate Burton Snowboards with the outside world. Whether it’s the email in your inbox, an event at your local mountain, a sweet product giveaway, or a collaboration with another brand, the marketing team probably had something to do with it.
Product
The people who make up our Product team design the best snowboarding gear in the industry. Using state-of-the-art technology, they build prototype hardgoods (snowboards, snowboard bindings, and snowboard boots) and softgoods (jackets, snow pants, and clothing), send them out on the snow in the real world, and then obsess over perfecting them based on rider feedback. Every Burton product you’ve ever worn or ridden started as an idea in the mind of the product team.
Purpose
At Burton, we work to minimize harm to the environment, positively impact the lives we touch, and have as much fun as possible. And these three facets, People Planet & Sport, guide everything we do. Our Purpose department is made up of visionaries who know that staying true to these goals in our business is infinitely more important than numbers on a balance sheet.
Brand
Brand keeps us true to our roots, applying the vision of Jake Burton Carpenter to snowboarding, and helping us inject that love and passion into every filament of fiberglass and thread of fabric that bears the Burton name. If all the Burton products, words, images, and videos that you see are the proverbial Goldilocks’ porridge, Brand are the cooks making sure it’s not too hot or too cold, but juuuuuust right.
IT
Preventing us from tearing our hair out by keeping Burton’s technology functioning smoothly, the Information Technology department is the indispensable glue connecting our teams. They’re educators, defenders, and problem solvers who, in the most stressful of times, calmly remind us that sometimes all you need to do is take a deep breath and restart your computer.
Retail
Our retail team, which includes individuals at our global headquarters, as well as the folks who you’ll meet in our stores around the world, are the Jake-blue thread connecting the Burton brand to the snowboarding community. Every individual that you’ll meet on our retail team brings their own unique vibe, and in turn, every retail location has its own individual character and charm. While the rest of Burton is hard at work creating the products, and spreading the word, the retail team are the ones bringing the party to the people.

Can I visit Burton Snowboards corporate headquarters?

We love when our snowboarding fam shows up at Burton Snowboards corporate headquarters in Burlington. The two primary reasons to drop into HQ are to shop at the Burton Burlington Headquarters Flagship Store or take a tour of Craig’s Prototype Facillity, our state-of-the-art snowboard manufacturing and prototyping lab.
If you are planning a trip to shop, you don’t need an appointment, but you should confirm that the store is going to be open before making the journey (we’d hate to miss you, and we’re snowboard bums so the hours may vary based on how many cold beverages we had the night before or how much new snow has fallen).
If you would like to take a guided tour of Craig's, you'll need to schedule your visit ahead of time. Tours are generally available Monday through Thursday and can be booked online, for free.
