Get to Know Ayumu

Having grown up skateboarding and surfing in Japan’s tight-knit scene, it didn’t take long for Ayumu to discover snowboarding and step right in line with two of his childhood heroes, Kazuhiro Kokubo and Shaun White. He’s grown to be a leader in a new generation of hard-charging (and rigorously training) Japanese halfpipe riders who have their eyes set on being the best.

Catch Ayumu in Paved, a new film from Burton and Red Bull Media House.

What does Ayumu Hirano ride?

From throwing down perfect runs on snowboarding’s biggest stages to elevating style in every carve and grab, Ayumu brings an unmistakable energy to the mountain.

He rides the Custom Camber Snowboard, now celebrating its 30th year as the all-mountain gold standard. Reinforced with a snappy Carbon I-Beam™ and a lightweight 700G core, it’s built for responsive power and versatile performance. For bindings, Ayumu stays locked in with the Genesis EST®, Burton’s high-performance, softer, and more cushioned option that pairs seamlessly with The Channel® for dialed adjustability. For boots, he relies on the trusted support and flex of the Ion boots, a favorite for high-impact riding and technical style.
