Outside & Outspoken

P: Get Out & Trek

In the past, we’ve fallen short in supporting, including, and representing the LGBTQ+ community-–both internally and externally.

We realize that we, Burton, played an unintentional role in the LGBTQ+ community not feeling safe and accepted in our sport through some of our actions, such as not making a public statement in reaction to homophobic language. We also recognize that we played a role in more indirect ways, such as by not representing more diverse humans in our marketing, brand imagery, and athlete sponsorship.

We are committed to doing better. We realize the power that a brand can have on a sport and the world, and we want to be a force for positive change.

Burton Ambassador Asher Henson: Finding Healing in the Outdoors

“The woods gave me safety to realize who I was. In a world saturated with transphobia, my tree-filled catharsis was what I needed to heal.”

It’s about time that we properly celebrated pride, and this year we’re using our platform to amplify LGBTQ+ voices. Throughout the month, we’ll share experiences from employees and ambassadors on the importance of visibility in the outdoors. But we also want to hear from you. Share your story with us on why it's essential to be seen, heard, and understood in the mountains.
