(youth, new rider & never been)

IT’S NEVER TOO EARLY

Resorts partnered with Burton’s Experience Snowboarding not only have the training and experience in working with kids of all ages, they have the boards, boots and bindings that provide the best start.

EDUCATION PROCESS

Learn To Ride Programs are focused on manageable groups within an environment best suited for the task at hand … learning to ride.

Whether that means first turns or getting an extra rotation in the mix, they break it down one step at a time, and focus on individuals learning styles for the best personalized experience.

LEARN TO RIDE PROGRAMS

You’ve selected a resort with equipment for beginners and professional instructors, who’s combined experience provide a good time on a snowboard.

Programs for you:
- Kids' LTR Center
- Riglet Park

BURTON ACADEMY

At the Burton Academy you’ll find full snowboard immersion, and you’ll find a guarantee that you’ll be linking turns by the end of the day.

Everything has been considered, from the coach you will work with to the degree of the slope you’ll be working on.

A HELMET IS A WAY OF LIFE

No one should have to convince you to protect your melon. We admit, the best helmet is the one never used for it's intended purpose, but in the event it does, the RED helmet systems are built to keep everything nice and secure.

Your first lesson

  • Time

Give yourself time to get to your lesson. Walking in snow with a snowboard in your hands adds a few minutes to any stroll around the resort.

    Don't Be Shy

Don’t be shy. When you’re at the greeting area, introduce yourself to your instructor and let them know your deal. Never tried it, tried it once with a friend, terrified of chairlifts – what you tell them will lead to a better experience.

    Ice Breaker

If you’re in a group vs. a private lesson, chances are your comrades might be a little nervous too. Break the ice. Share some laughs. You’re all in this together.

  • Feedback

Always ask for individual feedback from the instructor. Chances are they’re going to have you covered, but if they overlook it, just ask.

    WATCH AND LEARN

Always ask for individual feedback from the instructor. Chances are they’re going to have you covered, but if they overlook it, just ask.

    Knees

You’re going to hear it then, so you might as well hear it now: bend your knees.

First Day Tips

Get Up

Wake up and get excited... your life is about to change.

Fuel Up

Some fluids and a little something to eat will keep energy levels up.

H2O

Keep drinking water. You might not be sweating, but cold weather dehydrates you quickly.

Stretch

Loosening up the legs, back and chest will center your shred chi.

Relax

It’s snowboarding, not an IRS audit. Be ready to have some fun and learn something new.

Riglet Parks

The Riglet Park dramatically changes the dynamic of the snowboard lesson and opens up possibilities for younger riders than before. Safety, fun and learning … doesn’t get better.

"The instructors and setup made everything so easy for my kids, and was the perfect introduction to the sport. It was the highlight of our family's three day weekend in Stowe."
Greg Barbeau, parent

"The Burton Riglet Park has allowed our youngest participants here at Killington to experience an introduction to park features in a fun, safe, and inviting manner."
Dave Beckwith, Killington Resort

"Riglet Park was one of our best on-snow events last winter, we received very positive feedback about it. The day proved there is definitely a market & demand for that venue/program in Stowe."
Jeff Wise, Stowe Mountain Resort
