THE BURTON AM SERIES

Event Information

GENERAL INFO:


The 2010 Burton Am Series is a regional amateur snowboarding competition series that will hit 6 resorts across the US this winter season. The events are open to all amateur competitors of all ages and will feature men’s and women’s Slopestyle and Halfpipe competitions. The first place winners (men and women) in each discipline will receive a wildcard entry into the US Open Snowboarding Championships at Stratton Mountain, Vermont in March of 2010. The Burton Am Series gives amateur riders from all regions in the US a chance to guarantee a spot into the US Open pre-qualifiers by winning a contest at their home mountain.



Additionally, the Burton AM Series is the North American grassroots competition series of the Burton Global Open Series (“BGOS”) and all are 3Star TTR World Snowboard Tour events. All riders that compete in the Burton AM Series will earn valuable ranking points for both TTR and BGOS. US Open: The AM Series is a qualifier to the US Open, with first place finishers in each gender and discipline receiving an automatic entry into the US Open (pre-qualifiers for men and qualifiers for women) in their respective disciplines. The Am Series is the best way to secure your spot into the US!

Registration is $10.00 per event and open to competitors of any age. All riders MUST PRINT OUT THE WAIVER ON THIS SITE, FILL IT OUT AND BRING IT TO THE EVENT IN ORDER TO COMPETE!! If you are under 18, you MUST HAVE A PARENT OR GUARDIAN SIGN THE WAIVER. If you are under 13, YOU MUST HAVE A PARENT OR GUARDIAN REGISTER ONLINE FOR YOU.

Registration is on a first come first served basis. You will get an email confirmation informing you of your successful registration. PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT EVENT ORGANIZERS REGARDING YOUR STATUS. Confirmed riders must ALSO register onsite at the individual event locations to pick up their bibs and other registration materials. Registration begins at 7:30AM and closes at 9:00AM on the day of the competition*. If you fail to register onsite during the above times, your spot will be forfeited to a waitlisted rider.

 

*Additional on-site registration offered the day prior to each event.

 

Once all of the spots have been filled, you may sign up for the waitlist. All waitlisted riders MUST show up IN PERSON at registration between 7:30AM and 8:30AM in order to reconfirm their waitlist status. In the event that spots become available, at approximately 9:00AM on the morning of the competition, riders’ names will be RANDOMLY selected from the waitlist and placed on the confirmed rider start list.

 

Registration for all Am Series events will open on November 15th and will close at 10:00PM EST on the Thursday BEFORE the each individual competition weekend.

Halfpipe Format


ALL FORMATS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE BASED ON WEATHER, COMPETITOR FIELD SIZE, AND OTHER POSSIBLE DELAYS. ALL FORMAT CHANGES WILL BE COMMUNICATED DURING THE RIDER MEETINGS.



Field Size:


Maximum 60 men


Maximum 30 women



Qualifiers:


Jam session format divided into 3 separate heats. Best score counts from each jam, with ties broken by next highest run. 3 judges will score each rider on a scale of 1-100. 3 judges scores will be averaged for total run score. Top 12 men (top 5 from each heat and next 2 highest scores overall) and 5 women advance to the finals.



Heat #1 – 30 men (top 5 advance)



Heat #2 – 30 men ( top 5 advance)


(plus the next two highest scores overall from either/both heats will also advance, for a total of 12 men in the finals)



Heat #3 – 30 women (top 6 advance)



Finals:


Each rider will take 2 runs during the finals – best run counts. Start list will be seeded from the Jam session rankings. 3 judges will score each rider on a scale of 1-100. The 3 judges scores will be averaged for a total run score.
