Comments about Burton Tether Lock:
After several experiments in my freezer (after some harrowing real-life uses when it would not open), I find that this lock does not work well when cold/wet/frozen (like, say, at a ski resort). The combination does not 'change' - it's just that it does not always open when its cold/frozen, and then people change the combination in desperation, and as it warms up, the combination changes.
Do not get this product!!

I would echo the other users, unfourtunately I dont snowboard much, maybe 3 days a year if I am lucky so this lock has not gotten much use. Even after only being used a few times, it is stuck and wont work. Luckily i didnt get it stuck while I was at the mountain, but not I cant use it and my board is going unsecured. I wish burton could send me a replacement or offer suggestions on how to reset/or unjam the lock to fix it

Comments about Burton Tether Lock:
It's a neat looking product as a board strap, catches a lot of attention. However, functionally it was flawed. I went for 3 rides this year and the 3rd ride I decided to use it to lock my board to the rack and it wouldn't open again. I'm 200% sure that my combination was correct. I had to borrow a cutter from a crew to cut it off. The dial mechanism was loose and I noticed in some occation, water egress into the lock and freezes up, then guess what, it is jamed. I would not want to tie my board to the rack or on my foot again by using this lock and ruin any of my future rides.
Comments about Burton Tether Lock:
Something is really wrong with this. I bought 2 for my kids. My son called one night and said the combination didn't work, I had to drive to the ski hill and cut it off. (Surprisingly easy to cut by the way)
I figured he was messing with it or something, used gaff tape and put it back together so he'd have some kind of deterrent to someone grabbing his board. The combo number had "shifted" from 000 to 080. Then it happened again, and the same day it happened to my daughter.
I took them back to our local shop, I was the third person to return these. They gave me my money back, and the sales person thought there might be a problem with the number indicators rotating freely from the mechanism so what you're dialing in isn't the actual combo.
